Experimental Band Man Man Plays Musica

Sun 6/23 @ 8PM

The Man Man show at Akron’s Musica can’t help but be entertaining.

The Philadelphia band, which revolves around electric pianist Ryan Kattner (who calls himself Honus Honus for stage purposes), features four additional musician playing an orchestra’s worth of oddball instruments (Sousaphone, xylophone, marimba) and noise-making devices.

Its music embraces absurdity, strangeness, and an openness to even the most far-fetched musical influences.

The show will be doubly entertaining because ShiSho is opening. The pair of sisters from Kent, who cite the Dead Milkmen as one of their biggest influences, play guitar and accordion and sing wry, sly, mostly self-penned songs with bouncy tunes and smart lyrics.

Tickets are $13, a bargain for a night that’s going to be both thought-provoking and a lot of fun.
