Keyboardist Bill Payne was a co-founder of Little Feat, an eclectic and influential roots rock band that pretty much covered the entire roots music waterfront. It had no hits, but its original incarnation from 1969-1979 is revered by generations of musicians.
That chapter ended with the death of Payne’s co-founder, Lowell George, although Payne has continued to lead a Little Feat ensemble since the late ’80s.
He’s also recorded with lengthy list of other artists and released a solo album, Cielo Norte, in 2005, that is as influenced by classical music and jazz as by rock and its offshoots.
Payne will be appearing as a solo artist at the Kent Stage. Tickets are $25.
