Cleveland Heights’ Cain Park has become dog-friendly in 2013.
A few months ago, some neighbors succeeded in lifting the park’s ban on dog walkers.
Now it kicks off its summer programming with “No Place Like Home — Inspired by Forrest,” a benefit for animal rescue group PAWS.
The event is spearheaded by Northeast Ohio-based musician Robin Stone. She was the person chosen from the many who stepped up to adopt the bull mastiff found shot in the head and tied to a tree in another Cleveland Park late last fall. She named the dog “Forrest” and has been using him as a poster boy to lobby for stronger laws against animal abuse in Ohio.
Stone is one of a group of area performers who’ll participate in the event at Cain Park’s Evans Amphitheater. She’ll be joined by Akron rock/R&B ensemble Winslow, rock & roll singer/songwriter Brent Kirby and his band, and ’80s rock cover band the Breakfast Club.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door.
