Enjoy an afternoon of dancing at the Beachland Ballroom Sunday with all generations of your family. Take the kids/grandkids/parents/grandparents out for brunch (the Beachland Tavern next door has from 11am-3pm every Sunday that even that vegan teenager will enjoy), and then hit the dance floor at the Red Hot Polka Blast.
The two bands providing the music offer a cross-generational take on polka music.
Alex Meixner performs in many styles, plays many instruments, performs with numerous ensembles, and teaches out of his Florida base. But his mastery of accordion and roots in eastern European folk music go back to his Pennsylvania childhood.
Clevelander Fred Ziwich is a generation older than Meixner. The multi-instrumentalist plays a variety of music, but he’s grounded in the Slovenian aka Cleveland-style polka.
Admission is $15.
