Native son Jiggs Whigham left Cleveland a long time ago, toting his trombone overseas to Germany, where he’s been an integral and revered part of the jazz scene since the mid ’60s. His teaching, performance, band leading, and clinic schedule there — as well as London and the U.S. — is jam-packed.
But what better time for him to come back to his hometown for a performance than Trombone Week?
He’ll be performing with an extended group led by Cleveland-based trombonist Paul Ferguson, who heads the jazz studies department at Case Western Reserve.
Tickets are $20. Students with I.D. are half price. And if you are a trombone student and can’t find $10 to catch this show, we’re coming to confiscate your instrument.
