You may not have a gown of feathers like the one Ginger Rogers wore in Top Hat, nor do you have a top hat, white tie and tails always freshly cleaned and ready to go like Fred Astaire.
But there’s no dress code at Lakewood’s Vosh, the latest project from long-time local club entrepreneur Mickey Krivosh. That’s where the Akron-based Dave Banks Big Band will be taking patrons back to the the ’30s and ’40s when clubbers danced to the intricate yet accessible music of the big band — the pop music of the era.
The 16-member ensemble, led by trumpeter Dave Banks, will apply its musical force to a repertoire of jazz, blues and R&B tunes. For this show, it’ll be fronted by a pair of singers, Shannon Eller and John Morton.
Tickets are $10. You can make a reservation at the band’s website.
