There’s certainly a lot of art at the annual three-day Cain Park Arts Festival, with booths lining both sides of the wooded path through the Cleveland Heights park featuring artists who arrive from California and Florida — and a few streets away.
But there’s also non-stop music, mostly provided by local performers, many from talent-laden Cleveland Heights.
Friday roots rockers Cats on Holiday will perform at 3:30 and 7:30, with acoustic singer-songwriters Charlie Mosbrook and Avin Baird doing sets at 4 and 6 pm.
Saturday, doors open at noon, when gypsy jazz ensemble Hot Djang plays from noon-2 pm, followed by the Lenny Russo Band, a jazz combo led by veteran drummer Russo from 230-4:30. Ar 5, Steely Dan tribute the FM Project takes the stage for a two-hour show.
Saturday evening closes with a Cain Park Arts Fest tradition: Louisiana’s Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Express. Simien puts a contemporary spin on the bubbly, accordion-driven regional dance music that virtually compels listens to get up on their feet. It’s no wonder arts fest regulars clamor to see him again every year.
Sunday the Larry Patch Quintet performs from 12:30-4pm, playing music from the Great American Songbook. Vocalist/saxophonist Patch’s band will be joined by an assortment of local performers.
Admission to the Cain Park Arts Festival is free Friday evening; $5 Saturday and Sunday, 12 and under free. There is no additional charge for the music.
