Downtown Akron will bustle with July 4th festivities, as Rib, White & Blue, Akron’s National Rib Fest, takes over Lock 3 Live.
From July 3-6, the gates will open each day at 11am for chowing down, with music starting at 6.
Except on July 4, when veteran local folksinger Alex Bevan takes the stage at 4 pm. He’ll be followed by the University of Akron Steel Drum Band at 6, and the Akron Symphony Pops Orchestra at 8pm with guest soloist trumpeter Byron Stripling of the Columbus Jazz Orchestra.
Fireworks? You bet! They start at 9:45. No word on whether they’ll be playing the 1812 Overture, but I wouldn’t bet against it.
It’s all free.
