Louisiana Bluesman Tab Benoit at the Kent Stage

Sat 7/20 @ 8PM

Blues musician Tab Benoit, who was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2010, is steeped in the music and culture of his home state.

He’s been a strong voice for conservation in an area whose immediate survival depends on things like the restoration of the eroded wetlands that once protected New Orleans from flooding. He formed an organization called Voice of the Wetlands a couple of years before Katrina hit and starred in the iMax film Hurricane on the Bayou about the destruction wrought by Katrina.

Recording since 1992, he’s drawn extensively on the sounds and talented musicians that abound in Louisiana. His last album, 2011’s Medicine, was co-produced by one of New Orleans’ most prominent producers, Anders Osborn, and featured contributions from Michael Doucet of Cajun legends Beausoleil and Ivan Neville of the Neville Brothers.

Benoit will be at the Kent Stage.

Tickets are $28.50.
