For the 13th year, The Great Lakes Brewing Company’s Burning River Foundation hosted its Burning River Fest — an event intended o raise awareness or, and money for, environmentally friendly policies and programs.

So the two-evening fest, taking place on two levels at Whiskey Island — Wendy Park and the Historic Coast Guard Station down the hill — featured vendors and displays devoted to solar energy, vegan treats, art that recycled nature, and local organizations working to clean up watersheds, replace invasive plants with native growth, and create rain gardens to absorb runoff and divert stress from sewer systems.

It also featured a variety of music ranging from high school rock band Noize From the Basement to veteran folkie Alex Bevan, who has written extensively about the northeast Ohio’s natural beauty and the importance of protecting it.

And yes, there was Christmas Ale!
