Heavy Rockers Coliseum Headline Rock Hall Summer Show

Wed 8/14 @ 7PM

Louisville, Kentucky’s Coliseum released their fourth album Sister Faith in April, propelling their aggressive, punk-based sound ahead by leaps and bounds.

Produced by J. Robbins of Jawbox, the trio has an ability to find nooks and crannies inside loud music.

That puts them squarely inside a surprisingly rich Louisville tradition that back in the ’90s produced bands like the extremely influential Slint, Squirrel Bait and Palace Brothers, and others like The For Carnation, King Kong, Rachel’s, Rodan, June of 44, and Crain that were regulars on the underground rock circuit that included the Euclid Tavern as a regular stop.

Coliseum will be playing the Rock Hall’s Summer in the City concert series outdoors on the plaza, unless it rains or looks like it’s going to rain, in which case they will stuff everyone into the building while the band plays on the big lobby stage. Alas, this happened at last week’s Father John Misty show. While many people crammed into the lobby to hear the band, others sat outside on he plaza enjoying what turned out to be a lovely evening.

Opening is one of the best heavy rock bands out of Cleveland in the last decade Above This Fire.

It’s free. Food and beverages will be available on the plaza, and there’s always a food truck parked out front for these events.
