Whiskey Daredevils Celebrate “Decade of Decadence” at the Beachland

Sat 8/24 @ 9PM

Cleveland’s Whiskey Daredevils aren’t modest. They bill themselves as “America’s Greatest Country Punkabilly Band.”

They’ve certainly got the experience to back it up. Head daredevil, vocalist Greg Miller, and his faithful cohort on the drum kit, Leo Walsh, have been mining this territory since they formed the Cowslingers in 1990.

That band cut quite a swath through the ’90s roots rock scene, kicking out album after album. And when they broke up in 2003, Miller and Walsh kept it going with the Daredevils. Several personnel changes later, they’re joined by former Lords of the Highway bassist Rebecca “Sugar” Wildman and guitarist Gary Siperko.

They’ve made eight albums, they’ve toured Europe (and the U.S.), they’re regulars at festivals that specialize in roots rock/rockabilly/country punk etc. They’ve become experts at mixing serious classic country/rock songwriting with tongue-in-cheek ditties that make you laugh. And they never fail to deliver a frenetic live show.

They’re celebrating their “Decade of Decadence,” as they’re calling it, with an anniversary show at the Beachland Tavern. They’ll be joined by Norwalk’s Death by Rodeo.

Admission is $8.
