Canton trio Hey Monea! features two brothers, guitarist/vocalist Dan and drummer Nate Monea, along with bassist Adam Orin, who play straightforward, no-frills pop/rock with appealing vocal harmonies.
Although the band’s been kicking around for seven or eight years, evolving from a coffeehouse act to a full-on band (formerly under the name Hooked on Tonics), their new album, Cheap Souvenirs, is their first full-length, following the 2010 EP Wine, Women and Song.
The road between them was highlighted by their 2112 win in Hard Rock Rising, an international battle of the bands that gave them a chance to play on major music festival in London sponsored by the Hard Rock Cafe.
They’ll introduce the new album at a show at Akron’s Musica. Royal Vasa opens. Tickets are $9.99.
