Ex-King Crimson Singer John Wetton Brings Their Music to the Winchester

Mon 10/7 @ 8PM

I would normally never highlight a band fronted by an American Idol contestant — most of whom are basically glorified — and usually ghastly — bar band singers.

But Chicago progressive rock band District 97, which includes former AI competitor, singer Leslie Hunt, not only blends original pop melodies with ambitious progressive rock instrumentals, it’s also touring with former King Crimson bassist/vocalist John Wetton.

The collaboration will focus on Wetton’s music, which also includes a stint with the original lineup of Asia. Wetton co-wrote all their biggest hits including “Heat of the Moment,” “Only Time Will Tell,” and “Don’t Cry.”

But don’t worry, prog-rock fans. This tour is focusing on the music he composed during his time with the more adventurous King Crimson. So the stop at the Winchester should be a must-hear for lovers of the genre.

Admission is $20.
