The Cleveland Classic Guitar Society’s annual free showcase is designed to whet listeners’ appetite for classical guitar and expose the bounty of talent with roots in this area.
Taking place at Plymouth Church in Shaker Heights, the afternoon concert features soloist Jason Vieaux, a professor at the Cleveland Institute of Music, along with three duos: Duo Allant, comprising Youngstown State University professors François Fowler on guitar and Kathryn Thomas Umble on flute; AronBerkner duo with flautist Jane Berkner and guitarist Stephen Aron, who teach at the University of Akron and Oberlin Conservatory; and Duo Amaral, featuring husband-and-wife guitarists, Baldwin-Wallace professor Jorge Amaral and Mia Pomerantz-Amaral.
Full details on the program and the music to be played are here.
If you like what you hear, free-will donations will be accepted. Season tickets for the society’s five regular concerts are $90. Go to their website for more information.
