Private Prisons? Join The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio for their new seminar event — Jailing Justice: Prison Privatization in the United States. Led by Grassroots Leadership Executive Director Bob Libal, this interesting and thought-provoking experience divulges into the rising number of civil liberties concerns taking place in private prisons around the U.S.
It’s happening right in our backyard. Ohio’s Lake Erie Correctional Institution in Conneaut is just one of many private prisons popping up all over the United States. Bob Libal, the leader of the discussion, has worked in prison and immigrant detention facilities before and is the author of many reports and articles, including Operation Streamline: Costs and Consequences and The Dirty Thirty: Nothing to Celebrate About 30 Years of Corrections Corporation of America. The event is free and open to the public and taking place at the Max Wohl Civil Liberties Center on Chester Ave.
