The Cleveland Museum of Art presents its latest lecture – bringing an international expert to town to discuss Renaissance Art.
Gail Feigenbaum, Associate Director of the Getty Research Institute, returns to Ohio to deliver the Julius Fund Lecture in Renaissance Art. A graduate of Oberlin College, Feigenbaum earned her doctorate from Princeton University prior to becoming the curator of French painting at the National Gallery in Washington. She has been a fellow and acting associate dean of the Center for the Advanced Study of Visual Arts and held a postdoctoral fellowship at the American Academy in Rome.
Feigenbaum has taught at Georgetown, Tulane, and Johns Hopkins University and was formerly the curator of painting at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Dr. Feigenbaum’s research focuses on practice and learning in the Bolognese Carracci Academy, but she has also published widely on topics ranging from Degas in New Orleans: A French Impressionist in America (New York: Rizzoli, 1999) to Provenance: An Alternate History of Art (Los Angeles: Getty Research Institute Publications, 2012).
Her talk at the Cleveland Museum of Art will provide an in-depth analysis of Annibale Carracci’s enigmatic Butcher Shop (c. 1583-85). Reception in the KeyBank Lobby to follow.
