Monthly House of Blues Gospel Brunch Features Canton Conservatory Director Lafayette Carthon

Sun 9/8 @ 11AM

The Canton-based Carthon Conservatory was launched by Cleveland gospel musicians Lafayette Carthon to produce new generations of gospel musicians.

It claims to be “touching lives through music, the Word, and various community outreach efforts” and has big plans: “to change the course of music in America, to help put youth on the right path, and to change a generation, using music as the universal drawing card to intensify a comprehensive neighborhood approach to child development and life long learning.”

Carthon, a talented vocalist and pianist who has worked with the Winans and Mary J. Blige among others, hopes to have 50 more locations in the next five years and 200 in a decade.

Whew.

Meanwhile, you can hear Carthon and his group Faith, and enjoy a hearty brunch at the House of Blues’ monthly Gospel Brunch, presented by gospel star Kirk Franklin.

Tickets — which include the meal — are $38 for adults, $29 for seniors, and $18 for children 6-12. Reserve them at the House of Blues box office.
