Peabody’s has a big event for hotrod lovers and lovers of loud, rude music.
The 3rd annual Rust Belt Rumble combines a car show with concert featuring more than ten bands whose music reflects a hotrod spirit and attitude.
The car show, which starts at 2 pm, is put together by the Rumblers Car Club, which has been promoting the hot rod scene since the late ’90s in New York City, of all places. They’ve now got affiliates around the country. It’s open to pre-1964 cars and custom motorcycles.
As for the bands, expect a lot of appropriate retro influence, like the honky-tonkin’ sounds of Seattle’s Shivering Denizens, who say they play “Songs about drinking, drugging, living, loving, women, prison…and women in prison,” and Cleveland’s southern rock/country rock influenced Not So Good Ol Boys.
An assortment of other bands, including a bunch of hardcore and metal, will also play: Blackgrass Baptism, Downtown Brown, In The Trenches, Youth Forgotten, Crossface, Harvey Pekar, Hoodlife, X Members, and Gunselman and Gunselmans.
Free tickets are available at http://www.peabodys.com/
For those who are “meh” about cars, doors for the concert are at 7:30.
