The Cleveland Music Festival Returns for Its 13th Year

Thu 9/5

Fri 9/6

Sat 9/7

Sun 9/8

Consider the 13th annual Cleveland Music Festival an adventure into the unknown.

The event, sponsored by Cleveland-based Gorilla Music, features four days of some 300 bands you’ve mostly never heard of. They’re performing at a variety of venues, including the House of Blues, the Foundry in Lakewood, the Peabody’s complex, and the Agora.

Thursday’s Agora show features the event’s one nationally known act, Filter. It was formed by former Clevelander Richard Patrick 20 years ago, and enjoyed its greatest success not long after with its debut album Short Bus (1995) and the single “Hey Man Nice Shot.” It recently released its sixth album The Sun Comes Out Tonight.

Probably the second best-known act is Pitch Black Forecast, a project of former Mushroomhead singer Jason Popson. They’ll be at Peabody’s Friday.

The Friday show at the House of Blues includes a few names tha’ll be familiar to local club denizens, like Glow Pop Jiggly Jams, the Burning River Ramblers, and Switchblade Scarlett.

At $10 for a four-day pass, you can afford to take a chance and maybe discover your new favorite band.
