Karen Mould aka Bitch has been growing roots in the womyn’s music scene for nearly 20 years.
She performed for almost ten years as part of the duo Bitch and Animal, who recorded for Ani Difranco’s Righteous Babe Records and toured extensively with her. Their music was pointed and poignant, aggressive and humorous.
In the mid 2000s, she went her own way, doing some production and film work and launching her own label.
Her latest project is called Beach, with the multi-instrumental Bitch playing her primary instrument, electric violin. According to her press release, this new duo “involves an alligator who triggers dance-y beats.”
You can find out what that’s about when Bitch Presents Beach arrives at the Beachland Tavern, hot on the heels of a new album In Us We Trust.
It’s also an opportunity to hear one of northeast Ohio’s best young singer/songwriters, Diana Chittester, who’s been working hard since the release of her album In This Skin last year to get out of town and increase her fan base in other markets. A live album due out shortly and more touring in 2014 should enhance her reputation.
