City Music Cleveland will be running Mozart fans ragged this week.
The organization, which brings each of its programs free of charge to a variety of neighborhood locations, is about to embark on what it’s calling the Mozart Violin Concerto tour.
Instead of playing a single program at a variety of venues over the course of a week, it’s playing a different Mozart concerto at each venue.
It’ll kick it off with No. 4 at Fairmount Presbyterian Church Wednesday, followed by No. 1 at Elyria First United Methodist Church Thursday, No. 3 at Lakewood Congregational Church Thursday, No. 5 at Slavic Village’s Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus Saturday, and wrapping up with No. 2 at St. Noel Church in Willoughby Hills on Sunday.
Violinist Rachel Barton Pine, who has recorded 16 albums and performed with symphonies all over the world, is the soloist.
City Music Cleveland’s newly named music director, Israeli composer Avner Dorman, will conduct the programs, which will all include his own Concerto Grosso, Vivaldi’s Concerto in C for clarinets, oboes and strings, and Schubert’s Symphony No. 3.
