Cleveland Folksinger Deborah Van Kleef Plays the Stacks at Loganberry Books

Fri 11/1 @ 7PM

Come spend a peaceful Friday evening, relaxing in the expansive backroom at Loganberry Books. There, among bookshelves rising to the ceiling, you can grab a seat and catch a performance by Cleveland folksinger Deborah Van Kleef.

Her music, which she calls “rootsy rustbelt folk,” is a perfect fit for people of a literary bent. The singer, guitarist (who also plays other instruments like ukulele and dulcimer) and songwriter has a large repertoire of folk and topical songs that she performs at coffeehouses, festivals, schools, and rallies. (It really isn’t officially a peace rally if she isn’t there!)

Tunes like “The Great Fast Food Strike” and “Talkin’ Health Care” give a clear idea of where she stands on issues — firmly on the side of working people struggling to make a better life. She won’t be playing any Ted Cruz fundraisers any time soon. But there are plenty of people in the Shaker Square area who would love what she does.

Friday evening music at Loganberry is always free. So the money you save you can spend on books. Check out their schedule here.
