Eastern European Folk Ensemble Harmonia Performs at Mahall’s

Fri 10/25 @ 9PM

Cleveland’s Harmonia plays a spicy, spirited mélange of music from eastern European cultures. Band founder Walt Mahovlich is a native Clevelander of Hungarian and Croatian descent. Additionally he was exposed to Macedonian and Serbian cultures when he was playing music growing up.

Over the years, he made contacts with musicians wherever he travelled. In the late ’90s, those contacts gelled into Harmonia, whose members represent many different countries including Ukraine and Slovakia.

Harmonia released its third album, Hidden Legacy, last year. Mahovlich said at the time that his goal is to reach both the ethnic communities and audiences who may have grown far from those roots, but are intrigued by the lively, danceable sounds of those cultures.

The group will be at Mahall’s 20 Lanes.
