Harpist Yolanda Kondonassis Hosts Chamber Music Program at Oberlin

Tue 11/5 @ 8PM

Harpist Yolanda Kondonassis is one of the many world-class musicians based in Cleveland as faculty at the Oberlin Conservatory and the Cleveland Institute of Music. (She’s a CIM alum.)

Since making her debut with the New York Philharmonic at the age of 18, she’s performed with first-tier orchestras all over the world, including the Cleveland Orchestra. She’s made many recordings; the latest is American Harp, released earlier this year.

She also has a passion for chamber music. That led to the program she’s put together for Oberlin’s Artist Recital Series, taking place at Finney Chapel.

She’ll be joined by soprano Ellie Dehn, clarinetist Richard Hawkins, pianist Spencer Myer, flutist Alex Still, and the Jupiter String Quartet in a program of music by Maurice Ravel.

Tickets are $42 in advance, $45 at the door

The following day at Oberlin’s Kulas Recital Hall the Jupiter String Quartet, who are string quartet-in-residence at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and have a visiting faculty residency at Oberlin, will hold a master class from 4:30-6pm featuring Ravel’s music. That’s free.
