Area Musicians Benefit Food Pantries at the Barking Spider

Sat 11/9 @ 7PM

You won’t find the Liquor City Buddhas playing around town.

But once a year, you will find them playing at the Barking Spider Tavern in University Circle. The group’s actually an informal collection of area musicians — Matt Harmon, David Krauss, Carol Kuegeler, Michael McDonald, Howard and Ann Marie Micenmacher, and Sonny Miller — who get together for a cause that’s become increasingly urgent: feeding hungry people in our own metaphorical backyard.

At a time when federal food assistance allocations have just been cut despite an ongoing weak economy, and some in Congress want to make even more drastic cuts based on the fiction that people don’t want to work and apparently should just starve, this group of area musicians asks you to come down and make cash and food donations for local food pantries. “Last year’s donations kept one stocked for over three months,” they say.

The Spider never has a cover charge. Donate whatever you wish and are able to. And come hear a great evening of music from some talented area players.
