Canada’s Metric Perform at @HOBCleveland

Mon 11/25 @ 8PM

Toronto’s Metric have been kicking around since the late ’90s, although they’ve been more or less active as the band members have moved around and participated in a variety of other projects, including the much-lauded Broken Social Scene.

A quartet comprising vocalist/keyboardist Emily Haines, guitarist/synth player James Shaw, drummer Joules Scott-Key, and bassist Joshua Winstead, the group’s managed to release five full-length albums including last year’s Synthetica and seven EPs, showcasing their rock-meets-synthpop sound. It’s an infectious concoction that harks back to ’80s new wave with its dancey beats, rock and roll drive, and striking  melodies.

Haines’ forceful yet nuanced vocals and dynamic stage presence give the band a clear focus. She’s one of those singers you want to watch and listen to all night.

Metric will be at the House of Blues with Battleme opening.

Tickets are $24 in advance, $26 day of show.
