The great thing about the Cleveland music scene is that there’s all kinds of talent — musicians of all ages and all musical inclinations — lurking everywhere. Some of them have been steadily doing their thing for years, and you really don’t think much about them. And then one day you go “Oh yeah — she’s still out there and I forgot how reallygood she is.”
Ki Allen is like that. The jazz singer with the glowing alto crops up from time to time where local jazz players congregate. She’s appeared at Monday jazz nights at Brothers Lounge. She’s performed at Tri-C JazzFest. She’s made an album with guitarist Bob Fraser.
And this weekend, she crops up at Nighttown with Fraser in tow. They’ll be supported by a couple more of the local scene’s top jazzmen: bassist Peter Dominguez and drummer Ron Godale. If you like female jazz singers, she’ll knock your socks off, while you have dinner and a couple of drinks — a great evening out for not that much money.
Tickets are $10.
