Peanuts All-Star Jam Back For 39 @MusicAtBrothers

Wed 11/27 @ 9PM

It’s hard to believe but it’s true: Next year we’ll be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the annual Thanksgiving Eve Peanuts All-Star Jams.

They were started in 1975 by local writer/man-about-the-clubs Peanuts (we’ll leave out his real name because we printed it once and he went around trying to collect all the papers — not sure how he’d accomplish that digitally) who toiled for the old, music-oriented Scene for many years.

He left; he took his jams with him, although a brief effort was made to compete. As he constantly reminds us to this day, “The imitators are flattering, but it’s not the real deal unless I’m there.”

This year’s jam again takes place at Brothers Lounge.

The host band is dubbed “The Peanuts All-Star Jam Band, and includes some of the area’s top musicians from the ’70s and ’80s (many still playing out today): bassist Jim Bacha, guitarists Cy Sulak (My Old School, Sweetleaf, The Dynasoars) and Jerry Zsigo (BMZ, Clue), keyboard player Bruce Kowalski (Sweeleaf), drummer Jon “J.D.” Darking (Wish You Were Here) and vocalist George Yunis (Champion, Souvenir, That ’80s Band).

Guitarists and bassists who want to play should bring their instruments; drummer should bring sticks. All other gear is provided.

There’s no cover.
