There are a surprising number of musical/entertainment options on Christmas Day night. But unlike Thanksgiving even, Christmas Eve is a time when bars are closed and everybody stays home. There’s not much going on.
If staying in with the family just isn’t on your agenda, there’s always the annual Grog Shop Christmas Eve Party. It’s a low-key gathering for those whose family and friends don’t do the holiday thing to hang out and feel less lonely. There’s no loud band, just pizza, drinks, funny little gifts, maybe a visit from Santa.
Come alone, come with friends. Wear a Santa hat yourself, no matter what your race (Don’t believe the recent Fox “News” claim that Santa must be white.) Maybe lead those assembled at the pair in a rendition of the Pogues’ bleary Christmas Eve hymn “Fairytale of New York.”
The doors open to all at 8. It’s free.
