Get ready to move at the monthly Hybrid Shakedown party at Brothers Lounge. The event is hosted and emceed by area drummer Jeremy Miller who played with electronic Afrobeat ensemble Mifune for six years, while being involved in a host of other projects.
So he’s got a lot of contacts in various Cleveland musician communities. He’s drawn together nine of those musicians who have played with jazz, world music, rock, R&B, and roots bands like Mifune and the Revolution Brass Band. They make up a kaleidoscopic ensemble that collaborates with a DJ to produce dance music that focuses on Afrobeat, reggae and improvised grooves.
Other musicians could throw into the mix too — some scheduled, some not. For the December edition, Mifune/2-1 Chicks keyboardist Christine Fader will sit in with the ensemble.
