Cleveland’s holiday band the Ohio City Singers is busy running from gig to gig, playing tunes from their three seasonal albums, including their new A Town Called Christmas.
But they’re not the only local artists who have new Christmas music out.
Girlish-voiced singer-songwriter Ashley Brooke Toussaint has paired up with singer-songwriter Alan Madej to record “A Christmas Memory,” a delicate acoustic duet with a whistling solo. It’s available for free download here.
(Last year, she recorded a version of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” which you can still watch on YouTube.)
Akron folk-rockers Bethesda cap a breakout year that included a sophomore album Reunion and showcases at SXSW in Austin with a lilting, nostalgic tribute to humble Christmas memories — gathering with loved ones, telling stories, singing along to the car radio — called “Christmas Is.” They’re also offering a free download here.
And if you’d like to hear both talented acts perform the songs live, they’re sharing a bill at G.A.R. Hall in Peninsula, a picturesque setting for what’s sure to be a heart-warming holiday show with some of the most likable local original music around.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 day of show.
