The last couple of weeks of December offer a glut of opportunities to check out local bands, old and new.
And it wouldn’t be Yuletide if there weren’t a show by one of Cleveland’s most beloved long-running acts,Michael Stanley.
Sure, he’s got his share of detractors, ready to mock his earnest blue collar rock. But he’s also got a bunch of faithful fans who respond to his sincerity, his dedication in continuing to make records like this year’s The Ride long after the music industry has forgotten him, and of course, his tremendous live shows fueled by his tremendous eight-member band the Resonators. (Drummer Tom Dobeck has been with him since 1974; keyboardist Bob Pelander almost as long).
He’ll be playing his Holiday in the Heartland show at the House of Blues.
