@QuireCleveland Offers Carols Old & New @TrinityCleve

Fri 12/20 @ 7:30PM

Sat 12/21 @ 7:30PM

Sun 12/22 @ 3PM

Quire Cleveland was founded to perform a wide range of classical vocal music, stretching from the present all the way back to the Middle Ages.

Needless to say, there’s quite a bit of religious Christian music in that mix, making a holiday show a nature for this ensemble, which features some of the top trained singers in the area.

This year’s program, Carols for Quire from the Old & New Worlds, is its fifth. In it, the group will contrast modern and early settings of holiday tunes with the same or similar lyrics to demonstrate how composers in different centuries interpreted verses for the audiences of their day.

They’ll perform music by Benjamin Britten, Gustav Holst, Franz Gruber Eric Whitacre, and Thomas Talis, among others, at Trinity Cathedral for three performances, conducted by artistic director Ross W. Duffin.

Tickets are $20-$30.

Can’t make it? Order one of their Carols for Quire CDs! They’d make a nice holiday gift too.
