Secret Soul Club, a consortium of local DJs Alright!, Pops, and Party Sweat, bring their monthly funk/soul/garage rave-up to the Grog Shop in January, playing the kind of 45s that have filled up dance floors since the ’60s.
They’ll be spinning as part of the Grog Shop’s weekend of free local music.
Two local bands share the bill: a new quartet called Ma Holos, whose specialty is slinky, sinister garage rock, and Shit-Box Jimmy, whose clangorous rock with its classic rock, garage rock, blues and R&B references reeks of desperation on their recently released album Deliverance.
