Blues lovers should have a glorious night at the Akron Civic Theatre when the Broadway revue Ghost of the Blues touches down there for a single night.
The sketchy dramatic framework sets the first act in a graveyard as blues legends prepare to ascend to Blues Heaven. The second takes place in a classic juke joint setting.
But those are just hooks on which to hang an evening of music — songs by all the classic bluesmen (and woman) — Muddy Waters, Son House, Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson, Little Walter, Etta James.
A cast of six, including Muddy Waters’ son Mud Morganfield channeling his father, performs the tunes backed by the Ghost of the Blues Band.
Tickets are $39-$49.
