Snowed-Out Russian Duo Nighttown Gig On for This Week

Fri 1/24 @ 8:30PM

The Russian Duo’s gig at Nighttown December 14 ran afoul of the blizzardous weather. So the group rescheduled for tonight.

Their name tells you a lot about them. The two musicians — American pianist Terry Boyarsky (who is of Russian descent) and Siberian balalaika player/pianist Oleg Kruglyakov — have separate careers.

Boyarsky performs and teaches widely in the Cleveland area with a specialty in movement, as well as dance, piano, and vocal music.

Kruglyakov performed with numerous touring Russian folk groups before moving here in 1998.

The two joined forces in 2007 to share with audiences a wide range of Russian classical and folk music, from peasant folk songs to lively dance tunes to the morose minor-key pieces many associate with the Russian sensibility.

Tickets are $15.
