Like most orchestras, the Akron Symphony often brings in guest soloists for performances.
But, like most orchestras, its own members have high-level musicianship. And for its upcoming concert, Akron Virtuosos, it’s going to shine the spotlight in what some of the players you see up on the E.J. Thomas Hall stage regularly can do when they step out in front.
Music director Christopher Wilkins will conduct a concert that will feature principal cellist Miles Richardson on Gabriel Fauré’s Elegie for solo cello, and horn players Meghan Guegold, Stacie Mickens, Ken Wadenpfuhl and Cynthia Wulff on Schumann’s Conzertstück for Four Horns. Zoltán Kodály’s Dances of Galanta rounds out the program.
Tickets are $25-$55.
