BR549 Singer/Guitarist Chuck Mead @BeachlandCle

Fri 4/4 @ 8:30PM

Guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Chuck Mead is known to alt-country/Americana fans everywhere as one of the founding members of BR549. The Nashville-based band, which was active from 1993-2006, was one of the most beloved in the genre, making seven albums and touring all over the world.

When it ended, Mead had plenty of projects to keep him busy. He formed a project with members of the Mavericks, produced albums for Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings, served as music director for the Broadway show Million Dollar Quartet, and released his first solo album, Journeyman’s Wager, in 2009. His second solo album, Back at the Quonset Hut, came out in 2012.

And his latest 2014 ensemble, Chuck Mead & His Grassy Knoll Boys, have just dropped their album Free State Serenade on Nashville-based Plowboy Records, a new label one of whose co-owners is Cleveland punk rocker Cheetah Chrome, formerly of the Dead Boys.

Mead &  His Grassy Knoll Boys will be at the Beachland Tavern, with Lorain County’s Rachel Brown & the Beatnik Playboys opening.

Tickets are $13 in advance, $15 at the door.
