When the Cleveland Institute of Music Alumni Association decides to have a benefit concert, participants are not hard to come by. In fact, with the number of CIM alum active in the area music scene, they could probably do one every night of the year.
This benefit, titled The Beat Goes On, draws on a quintet of CIM-trained percussionists — Mell Csicsila, Bruce Golden, Michael Jarrett, Matt Larson, and Dylan Moffitt. They’ll join violinist Jinjoo Cho (pictured), cellist Daniel Lim, and pianist Hyun Soo Kim for a program of contemporary music that includes Djuro Zivkovic’s Trio per Uno for Percussion Trio; Paul Schoenfield’s Café Music; Wayne Siegel’s 42nd Street Rondo; and Astor Piazzolla’s Spring and Autumn from The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires and Libertango.
There’s a dessert reception in the lobby after the concert in Mixon Hall at CIM, and they’re advising that the event will be very kid-friendly!
Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for kids under 12 and CIM students with ID. They’re available at the door or online.
The money raised will go to CIM scholarships, student mentoring, and recognition of outstanding alumni.
