Cle R&B Singer Antoine Dunn @Brothers_Lounge

Sun 4/6 @ 6PM

Like many artists who have had a brush with fame, Cleveland native Antoine Dunn has had quite a journey, even though he’s still in his mid 20s.

The soul singer, who draws on classic R&B artists like Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and Donnie Hathaway, as well as more contemporary influences like Adele and Alice Keys, spent some time on the road, singing top 40 before being discovered by Sony, which released his 2012 debut Truth of the Matter. It was executive produced by Tony Nicholas, who teamed with the late Gerald Levert to produce and write, and Dunn’s rich, romantic, gospel-inflected vocals aimed for a similar audience as Levert’s.

Despite having some success with the self-penned, self-produced album and doing tours with some top acts, including fellow Clevelander Avant, his journey through the major label major was brief.  He returned to his hometown, where he’s continued to write and record heartfelt tunes like “I Am,” a tribute to his mother who died of breast cancer in 2011.

He’s performing at Brothers Lounge.

Tickets are $25.
