Flamenco Singer Estrella Morente Makes Her Cleveland Debut @ClevelandArt

Wed 3/12 @ 7:30PM

In a style that honors legends, Spain’s Estrella Morente is one of the prominent young voices in the flamenco genre.

Only 33, she began to absorb the music early. Her father Enrique Morente is a noted flamenco singer who mentored his daughter and had her performing with him when her age was in the single digits. Her mother is a flamenco dancer. What else was she going to do?

She released her first album at 20, and attracted some attention outside her native country when she appeared on the soundtrack of Pedro Almodóvar’s 2006 film Volver, starring Penélope Cruz.

And she’s married to a bullfighter. How much more Spanish could you get?

Morente’s appearance at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Gartner Auditorium is her Cleveland debut.

Tickets are $44–$69.
