As the Cleveland Orchestra’s spring season continues, a familiar figure will mount the podium at Severance Hall.
The Orchestra’s former music director, Christoph von Dohnányi, returns to conduct three performances of a pair of Schumann Symphonies, No. 4 and No. 2.
He led the Orchestra from 1984-2002, overseeing the ensemble during the extensive renovations at Severance Hall and launching the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus, an outgrowth of his lifelong and continuing mission to seed the next generation of musicians and music lovers. The now 84-year-old primarily guest conducts these days, and of course, he’s much in demand, given the glowing reviews the Cleveland Orchestra received during his tenure.
Tickets are $31-$149.
