Phantasy Remembers Soundman Dale Lucas With Two-Night Benefit

Fri 3/7 @ 8PM

Sat 3/8 @ 9PM

If you every played or even hung out at the Phantasy Concert Club, you undoubtedly knew Dale Lucas, the club’s devoted soundman for over 30 years.

Lucas passed away unexpectedly in early January. He was so special that the club where he spent so many years is hosting a two-night tribute event and benefit for his family, featuring many of the bands that he worked with.

The Phantasy posted on its website,

“Anyone that has been to the Phantasy and enjoyed the music and the excellent
sound quality of the bands knows it’s because of one man, Dale Lucas. …He took care of his sound system
to the max; it was his baby. He also truly cared about the bands. He always
had an idea of how to make the shows just a little better. He would settle
for nothing less than the best for sound! We will miss him greatly.”

Friday is devoted to a lineup of rock and metal bands including Sunless Sky, Necrus Obscura, Demons Within, Outdrive, Mobile Avenue, Electric Mayhem, the Sunrise Jones, and the Bottle Kids.

Saturday will feature the type of music the Phantasy became known for in the ’80s and ’90s when it was the premier hangout in town for goth, industrial and synth-music fans. Mercury Project, Missile Command and Shadow Saints will play, with DJs Nemesis and Guy Wires spinning between acts.

Admission each night is $6, $9 for 18-20, which all goes to Lucas’s family. In addition the Phantasy will be giving them a portion of the bar.
