There are few acoustic guitar-toting singer-songwriters today who don’t have at least a tiny bit of Bob Dylan DNA. As grating as his nasal vocals and bleating harmonica can be to some, he revolutionized “folk” songwriting, taking it to an intellectual and psychological level it had never been and stretching the boundaries of both subject matter and lyrical approach.
So it’s fitting that Akron singer/songwriter Ryan Humbert, who performs in various band formats as well as solo and is known for his concept shows, has organized a one-time show “Tangled Up in Dylan” to pay tribute to Dylan. The show will touch on both electric and acoustic Dylan in dozens of songs. Humbert himself will perform with a seven-piece band while opening act, Canton’s Cody J. Martin, performs acoustic Dylan.
The show, at the Akron Civic Theatre, will be performed in the intimate cabaret format with both performers and audience onstage.
Tickets are $20 or two for $30.
