Traditional Bluegrass Artist Danny Paisley @ConservancyCVNP

Sat 3/29 @ 8PM

There is a lot of so-called “newgrass” out there, bluegrass-based music that incorporates a range of other influences and tweaks the traditional style for modern ears. There are also a multitude of “alt-county” and roots-rock bands who use bluegrass as a flavoring in their eclectic styles.

That’s not Danny Paisley & the Southern Grass. The 55-year-old guitarist and his band draw on the undiluted bluegrass of the Stanleys, the Osbornes and of course, Bill Monroe, widely considered to be the founder of bluegrass music.

The music is a family tradition for Paisley. He took over the Southern Grass, founded by his father Bob, following his father’s death in 2004. And his son Ryan plays mandolin in the five-piece group.

The group performs at the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Happy Days Lodge as part of its heritage series.

Tickets are $17 for the general public, $12 for conservancy members, and $5 for kids 3-12.
