Ever since he was a teenager in the classic-rock style power trio Cows in the Graveyard back in the ’90s, guitarist/vocalist Alex Alvarez has been hard to keep up with. It seems like he’s always got a dozen musical irons in the fire, playing in a variety of styles, formats, collaborations, under some form of the name “Xela.”
One of those is a group called the XelaCutty Combo, a partnership with sousaphone player Cutty of the Revolution Brass Band. Together, they made an album about a year and a half ago titled Adventures & Other Notable Encounters.
They’ll be having a most likely notable encounter at Bad Racket Recording’s new location in Asiatown, where the studio is continuing the tradition of in-studio public concerts it started over in Ohio City. Life(liss) and Gypsydaze will also be playing.
