There are a lot of Celtic rock bands around. Some add straightforward rock, some add punk, some add metal. Tempest stands out in that crowd. Band founder/lead singer/mandolinist Lief Sorbye is from Norway, and the band incorporates Norwegian folk influences as well as other non-Celtic folk influences into their sound.
And the other members of the band hail from around the world. Fiddler Kathy Buys is from San Francisco, bassist Caith Threefires is a Bostonians, guitarist Greg Jones, and drummer Adolfo Laza, also an original member, is from — wait for it — Cuba! Not your run-of-the-mill Celtic band indeed.
The band is returning to the Winchester Music Hall. Their opening act is Crsytal Ball, a Blackmore’s Night Tribute band.
