Rodney & the Regulars, out of Huron County, Ohio, describe their music as “hot hillbilly and honky tonk.”
So you know their take on roots music or “alternative” country (“alternative” primarily because of the slick, predictable popification of today’s country) is going to be a window back to the ’40s and ‘50s when artists like Ernest Tubb, Webb Pierce, Lefty Frizzell, and the great Hank Williams were singing songs about drinkin’ and cheatin’.
The group has a new album called Fresh American Made Brown Eggs, featuring 12 tracks of classic honky-tonk. They’re calling their upcoming appearance at the Beachland Tavern their CD release show. They’ll share the stage with Milwaukee punk/bluegrass band Jayke Orvis & the Broken Band and singer/songwriter/guitarist James Hunnicut who also plays in Jayke Orvis’ band.
