New Planet Trampoline Continues Comeback @HappyDog58

Sat 4/26 @ 9PM

New Planet Trampoline, part of the so-called Davenport Collective whose bands shared many of the same musicians, called it quits in 2006 after releasing two wel-regarded but obscure albums.

They slipped back into the scene late last year when singer/guitarist Matt Cassidy returned to the local indie rock fold via participating in last spring’s Lottery League. (He’d spent about eight years focusing on his noise project, while the other guys — drummer Charlie Druesdow, organist Ben Gmetro, and bassist Dave Molnar have played around with a lot of bands).

Their initial show last October featured the band playing Pink Floyd’s Piper at the Gates of Dawn in its entirety. But since then they’ve been playing their own often distracted-sounding, psychedelic-influenced rock, and looking at picking up the unfinished business they’d been working on back when they broke up.

They’ll be back at the Happy Dog where they’ll join two new bands on the local scene, both formed last year: heavy metal mavens Queen of Hell, who outlived the temporary Lottery League to play on and garage/surf band Shale Satans.

Admission is $5.
